The Barnett Shale is a Fort Worth Basin boomer that is located directly under the bustling Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. To date, this shale has debuted quite a number of high-yielding wells. But given that much of the shale underlies a largely urban area, operators have run into a multitude of challenges such as city ordinances, zoning rules and strict air-quality monitoring. However despite challenges, companies such as Encana Corp. and Carrizo have completed successful drilling projects in the area.
