Blackbird Energy Inc. provided an update on its Elmworth drilling program, the company said Oct. 27. It drilled, logged and cased the third well at Elmworth, the 2-20 well, at 2-20-70-7W6. The company has full working interest.

The 2-20 well’s drilling program included the drilling of a vertical pilot well from surface location 10-8-70-7W6 to 2,582 meters (m) vertical depth. That well was then logged to the bottom of the Lower Montney. When logging was finished, the company drilled a horizontal leg about 2,000 m targeting the Middle Montney to downhole location 2-20-70-7W6. The well’s total measured depth is 4,660 m.

The 2-20 well was spudded on Sept. 24 drilling operations were completed in 32 days. This is an improvement in drilling efficiency and planned capex compared with the 6-26 and 5-26 wells, Blackbird added.

Blackbird will complete the 2-20 well using NCS sliding sleeve frack technology on coiled tubing. There will be 71 individual foam fracks over 2,000 m in the completion. Results from the well’s production test will be announced in January 2016, the company said.

Darrell Denney resigned from the board of directors, the company added.
