Description
Alta Resources, L.L.C. is a private company located in downtown Houston with a field office in Montrose, Pennsylvania. Alta was formed in 1999 to explore for oil and natural gas in the onshore United States. In the past nine years Alta has drilled or participated in more than 150 wells in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Alabama with an overall success rate of 95%. Recently, Alta experienced significant success in developing the Fayetteville Shale in Arkansas. In Arkansas, Alta used its technical talent to identify the best geologic areas to drill for the Fayetteville, and leased the second largest land position in the core area of the play. Alta's engineers were leaders in developing best drilling and completion practices. Alta drilled horizontal wells with the highest sustained flow rates in the play, and performed the first simultaneous fracture stimulation in the play. Alta's business model is to combine our team of the industry's strongest technical talent with solid, industry based financial partners to develop oil and gas reserves. Our partners in Arkansas were Contango Oil and Gas, a public company located in Houston, and George P. Mitchell, founder of Mitchell Energy (sold to Devon Energy in 2001). Mr. Mitchell is legendary in Houston for his work in the oil and gas and real estate businesses. Ken Peak, President of Contango Oil and Gas, was quoted in the media saying: "The Alta Resources team, led by Joe Greenberg, Richard Grigsby and Jenny McCarthy, has done an outstanding job of identifying this play, and executing a strategy to create enormous value in a very short time. I'm sure all Contango shareholders join me in thanking and congratulating them for our mutual success."
