Presented by:
Nadia Bollinger, Partner Solutions Architecture senior manager of Energy and Utilities at Amazon Web Services, is today's featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
Bollinger has been working in the industry even before leaving college, but before that, she was no stranger to the industry since her father worked as an engineer for Suncor. However, she forged her own path after spending three semesters in school working for Exxon Mobil.
"The computational challenges (especially in the upstream sector) were incredibly exciting to me, and Exxon Mobil, being Fortune 1 at the time, had access to an abundance of resources to leverage technology in new ways to solve some of the greatest challenges in the E&P domains," Bollinger said.
Adept at multitasking, Bollinger completed two master's degrees while working full-time at Exxon Mobil, one of which while pregnant with a small child at home.
Working at Exxon Mobil, Bollinger had the opportunity to work in both London and Abu Dhabi, during which she not only gained invaluable industry experience but also had the opportunity to connect and learn from the communities of women there.
"While in Abu Dhabi, I led the implementation of our solution within a joint venture that optimized infrastructure to increase recovery through novel drilling and completion strategies," she said. "In a short period of time early in my career, I not only gained deep industry and technical experience in upstream operations across our global operations but also had the opportunity to participate and learn about the local female community in the UAE."
