The annual Midstream 50 is out and this year’s edition can be described as calm. There was no gigantic up and down movement as in previous years. You may recall last year, Enbridge shot up from number four to number one with its Spectra energy mega-deal, and Cheniere shot up from number 40 to number 10 as its LNG export operation in Cameron Parish started. Spoiler alert for this year, Enbridge remains in the top spot but you can check out all of the detail of this year’s list on HartEnergy.com and in Midstream Business.
On the data side, EIA’s new liquids pipeline projects database shows U.S. crude oil production doubled between 2010 and 2018, with about 70% of that growth coming into the Gulf Coast. Of course, the growth of Permian production may have something to do with that, as we’ve now topped more than 7 million barrels per day.
