Senex Energy Partners LLC, a new private upstream acquisition company, was formed by five former senior analysts at Devon Energy Corp. (NYSE: DVN), Senex said April 19.

Senex will initially have 18 employees. Its founders include John F. Templin II, president and CEO; A. Paul Baclawski, vice president and COO and a certified professional geologist; John H. Graham Jr., vice president of engineering and a petroleum engineer; Steve T. Whitaker, vice president of exploration; and Dean R. Richmond, vice president of geosciences.

Most recently, each senior analyst was an integral member of Devon's corporate new ventures/acquisitions and exploration teams. Their cumulative oil and gas industry experience exceeds 185 years, Senex said.

The Senex team will use its comprehensive knowledge of many geologic basins and conventional and unconventional plays in order to acquire the best oil and gas assets from proven producing fields and new trends’ sweet spots.

The new company, based in Oklahoma City, is seeking startup venture capital.
