FTS International (FTSI) said Aug. 21 it provided stimulation services for EQT Corp.'s (EQT) record-setting Utica well in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Pittsburgh's EQT announced that its first deep Utica well achieved an average 24-hour test rate of 72.9 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) into sales during the initial 24-hour flow back test. This initial production (IP) rate equates to a 22.6 MMcf/d IP rate per 1,000 foot of lateral. FTSI provided hydraulic fracturing and wireline services for the well.
The well is known as Scotts Run and located in Greene County, Pa. FTSI said it has what is believed to be the highest reported IP of any Utica well to-date and is more than double the previous record.
FTSI, based in Greene County, Pa., has nearly 375,000 hydraulic horsepower of well stimulation equipment currently deployed in the Appalachian Basin, working in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
"We worked with FTSI for months on the planning and execution of this completion and were proud to have them as our partner for the remarkably successful and safe completion of our first deep Utica well," said Steve Schlotterbeck, president of E&P at EQT, in a statement. "While this well continues to produce far beyond our initial expectations, we are now focused on improving our technology and processes in order to achieve better cost efficiencies for our next two Utica wells."
"We congratulate EQT for their continuing success as a leader in natural gas production in the Appalachian Basin. FTSI is honored to have been the services provider for this record-breaking well and many other successful EQT wells," FTSI CEO Greg Lanham said in a statement. "I also congratulate our hard-working crews for their dedication to service quality and safety, which helps us realize our vision of being the preferred well completion provider."
