Galilee Energy Ltd. (ASX: GLL.AX) said April 21 that preliminary analysis of the cased hole logs on the Hoffer B1 well in the Eagle Ford identified significant gross sandstone intervals in the well’s lower section. The well is on the Hoffer prospect in Lavaca County, Texas.

This is in addition to the 43 feet (ft) of net pay in the Middle Midcox sandstones and potential 40-foot pay zone in the shallower Yegua Formation.

Galilee could not obtain openhole logs in the deeper section of the hole. After running and cementing the production casing, a cased hole logging suite was run. The cased hole logging suite identified about 30 ft of gross sandstone in the Middle Midcox and Lower Wilcox. The sandstone totaled about 90 ft in the primary target. The logs’ interpretation cannot directly quantify net pay, the company added.

Overall, there are almost 200 ft of combined zones of interest in the the Hoffer B1.

An independent reserve analysis of the encountered zones will be conducted after testing operations.

Galilee is participating on equal terms with the other joint venture partners for a 35% working interest in the prospect.

The operator is preparing perforating and testing plans.
