Jerry R. Schuyler was appointed as chairman of the board of directors at Gastar Exploration Inc. (GST), the company said Nov. 16. Currently, Schuyler is an independent director of Gastar.
He will replace John M. Selser Sr. as chairman, the company said. Selser will resign to devote more time to other business interests.
Schuyler joined Gastar as a director in August 2014 and is currently on its compensation and reserves review committees. Previously, Schuyler was a director and the COO of Laredo Petroleum Inc. He also became president of Laredo before announcing retirement, Gastar added.
Previously, Schuyler was a director for Rosetta Resources Inc. until its acquisition by Noble Energy Inc. earlier this year.
Schuyler has bachelor’s degree from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology.
Houston-based Gastar's nominating and governance committee will search for a new independent director candidate to fill the vacancy left by Selser's resignation.
