Gastar Exploration Inc. (GST) detailed the initial and 30-day production on its second Utica/Point Pleasant well June 30.
The Blake U-7H well, in Marshall County, W.Va., produced 36.8 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of natural gas on a 32/64ths choke at the peak of 48-hour gross sales rate. There was about 6,235 psi of flowing casing pressure.
The 30-day production averaged 20.2MMcf/d on a restricted basis on a 26.64ths choke with about 5,312 psi of flowing casing pressure.
The most recent five-day average rate is 14.8MMcf/d at approximately 5,008 psi of flowing casing pressure.
Blake U-7H was drilled with a lateral length of 6,617 feet and completed in 34 stages.
Gastar has a 50% working interest, and 41.1% revenue interest, in the well.
J. Russell Porter, president and CEO, said there are no plans to drill another well in the play until regional gas prices improve and returns on investment become competitive.
Houston-based Gastar Exploration Inc. develops and produces domestic oil, natural gas and NGL.
