Marksmen Energy Inc. participated in the drilling of Delong-Davis Unit #1, a well operated by joint venture partners Hocking Hills Energy and Well Services LLC and Chuck Henry Energy LLC, the company said July 27.
Marksmen has a 45% working interest in the well in Pickaway County, Ohio.
The well was spudded on July 20 and reached total depth on July 26. It targets a large Cambrian Knox oil remnant. New 3-D seismic revealed oil and gas shows in the top of the formation, and openhole logs recorded porosities of more than 20% in a 6-foot interval. Oil circulated to surface.
Delong-Davis Unit #1 is currently being completed for commercial production. A pumpjack and bottomhole equipment are scheduled to be placed within a week, the company said. The well is scheduled to be online in mid-August.
Several other well locations in the 2015 3-D target area are being permitted for drilling. These include the largest remnant identified by seismic, an offset to the Strittmatter #1 well. Additional 3-D seismic is planned for later this year, the company said.
Marksmen currently has about 12,000 leasehold acres in the county.
Marksmen Energy Inc. is based in Calgary, Alberta.
