Oilfield Services company Nine Energy Service Inc. acquired certain assets of G 8 Oil Tool (Pat Greenlee Builders LLC), a downhole completions tool provider, Nine said Sept. 2.
Athens, Texas-based G 8 provides composite plugs used for plugging, perforating and fracturing, and other tools for operators in the Marcellus, Eagle Ford, Permian Basin and Utica. G 8 created and provides the Scorpion composite plug.
The acquisition of G 8 expands Nine's offerings, adding a fully composite plug in multiple sizes, including a 5.5 extended-range plug for restricted wellbores and workovers.
As part of the transaction, Don Greenlee, G 8’s owner and principal engineer, will join Nine to continue the development of the Scorpion composite plug and other downhole technologies. Greenlee has more than 38 years’ experience in the industry.
Vinson & Elkins LLP was Nine’s legal counsel during the transaction.
Nine Energy Service Inc. is based in Houston.
