Occidental Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY) said Dec. 10 it has promoted Vicki A. Hollub to president and COO. She has also been appointed to the board.

As part of a succession plan, Hollub is set to replace Stephen I. Chazen as CEO effective at the Houston company’s 2016 annual shareholder meeting.

Hollub has nearly 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, holding a variety of technical and leadership roles, both domestic and international, according to the release.

She began her career in 1981 with Cities Service, which was acquired by Occidental in 1982. She was appointed senior executive vice president of Occidental and president of Oxy oil and gas earlier in 2015.

Hollub holds a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering from the University of Alabama.

Chazen will be nominated to the board for an additional term following his service as the company’s CEO.
