Orbit Gulf Coast Exploration LLC acquired substantially all the assets of Orbit Energy Partners LLC, parent company Gulf Coast Western LLC said Jan. 14. Terms of the deal, which closed in December, were not disclosed.
There are proprietary rights and access to hundreds of square miles (sq miles) of 3-D seismic data in southwest Louisiana, working interests in 13 producing wells, and 140 defined drilling locations with about 30 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) of total reserve potential.
Matthew H. Fleeger, CEO of Gulf Coast Western, said the transaction included certain data for the company’s 42-sq mile Bonanza Project in Evangeline and St. Landry parishes.
Gulf Coast Western plans to partner with the Orbit companies to further develop hundreds of prospects in an area of mutual interest (AMI) covering about 1,000 sq miles in Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Evangeline and St. Landry parishes.
This AMI includes 13 wells in production, and one which has been production tested and is currently being placed into production. These are expected to produce more than 800boe/d.
There are plans for 18 additional proved undeveloped reserve-designed offset wells, and two workover wells, Gulf Coast said.
Through an agreement from Warhorse Oil and Gas, Gulf Coast Western became the operator for many of the development wells. Other operators that currently operate the acquired producing wells include Zachry Exploration, LLOX, Union Gas, Endeavor NG and Neumin Production.
Orbit Gulf Coast took over production effective Oct. 1, 2015. Orbit Energy Inc. will remain a minority member in Orbit Gulf Coast Exploration.
Orbit Energy Partners’ team, formed in 2005 by Energy Trust Partners and Orbit Energy Inc., has assembled large 3-D projects in south Louisiana and participated in drilling prospects developed with industry partners.
Gulf Coast Western LLC is based in Dallas.
