David B. Rottino was appointed as executive vice president and CFO of LINN Energy LLC (LINE) and subsidiary LinnCo, the parent company said Aug. 24. Rottino’s appointment is effective immediately and he replaces Kolja Rockov in the roles. Rockov will leave the company pursue other opportunities, LINN added.

Rottino joined LINN in June 2008 as senior vice president and chief accounting officer. He has been executive vice president of business development and chief accounting officer since January 2014. Previously, he was senior vice president of finance and business development and also chief accounting officer from July 2010 to January 2014.

In his new role, he will lead the company's existing finance and investor relations teams, and continue overseeing the accounting and business development functions.

Rottino has more than 20 years’ experience in the oil and natural gas industry. He has also worked for El Paso Corp., ConocoPhillips (COP) and Burlington Resources.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a master’s of business administration degree from Texas Christian University.

"David has demonstrated tremendous leadership in the company's transformational initiatives over the past two years, which have resulted in a more stable asset base and an improved ability to weather this current challenging environment," said Mark E. Ellis, chairman, president and CEO. "We believe his extensive industry knowledge, as well as his significant finance and accounting experience, will serve us well as we navigate an uncertain period of low commodity prices and position the company for the future."
