Saturn Minerals Inc. (TSXV: SMI.V) completed its third 2-D seismic program for petroleum exploration permit 71 on the Little Swan property in the Canadian portion of the Williston Basin.
The seismic program evaluated deeper Ordovician-Cambrian targets on 102,758 hectares in eastern Saskatchewan. The targets were originally identified as having hydrocarbon potential, Saturn said.
There were two lines, totaling 27 kilometers (km), of 2-D data. An active oil system in the northern Williston Basin was indicated through a 2011 exploratory drilling program 60 km northeast of Little Swan. The program targeted shallow coal seams up to 120 meters total depth.
To date, five lines of 2-D seismic have been completed at Little Swan—a total of 57 km. They are intended to identify structural and stratigraphic traps in well-known oil formations, such as Red River, and at the Bannock Creek prospect.
The Little Swan data is being processed in Calgary, Alberta.
Saturn Minerals Inc. is based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
