The Barnett Shale is located in the Fort Worth Basin of north-central Texas. It is a Mississippianage shale occurring at a depth of 6,500 ft to 8,500 ft and is bounded by limestone formations above (Marble Falls Limestone) and below (Chappel Limestone).
