TGS began field operations on the West Kermit 3-D seismic survey on 150 square miles, minimum, in the Delaware Basin, the company said Jan. 30.
The seismic survey spans Loving and Winkler counties, Texas, and will support evaluation and development of multiple-zone potential including Wolfcamp and Bone Spring intervals.
Data acquisition will likely begin in early second-quarter 2017, with final data available to clients in the fourth quarter. TGS will process the data using its modern land imaging technology.
West Kermit 3-D is complemented by TGS' extensive geologic products database with data from more than 425,000 wells and multiple interpretive products in the Permian Basin.
Kristian Johansen, CEO, said this is TGS’ first project in the Permian.
The project is supported by industry funding.
