Torchlight Energy Resources Inc. said on July 22 that the Flying B Ranch #1 well in the Midland Basin was drilled to 6,470 ft total depth.
The well was logged and 25 sidewall cores were taken from the different pay zones. The well was also cased and cemented ahead of future fracking and completion.
Rich Masterson, the company’s consulting geologist, said that initial scientific data from the logs correlate with the offset Davis Bros. Harris Est. #1 well from a pay, porosity and resistivity perspective.
He also said that the well’s rock qualities are similar to the wells drilled in the Wolfberry Formation. Masterson said that more than 400 ft of pay zone were encountered, and at least two horizontal targets were identified.
