Abraxas Petroleum Corp. (NASDAQ: AXAS) said June 18 it hired Steven P. Harris to serve as director of finance and capital markets for the San Antonio-based company.
Harris, who joins Abraxas from Sundance Energy Australia Ltd. (NASDAQ: SNDE) where he assisted in the company’s business development and investor relations efforts, has more than 20 years of financial and leadership experience, according to the Abraxas press release.
Prior to Sundance, Harris worked for Canaccord Genuity as a managing director and head of its U.S. energy investment banking division. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration from the Rice University Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management.
At Abraxas, Harris will report to Bob Watson, the company’s chairman, president and CEO.
Watson said in a statement, “Steve’s financial and business development experience will prove invaluable as Abraxas continues to execute on its business plan. Steve also possesses the necessary financial and investor relations experience to provide a seamless transition for all of our stakeholders. I and the entire Abraxas team welcome Steve to the company and look forward to working with him.”
