Denver-based Mallard Exploration LLC has scheduled 16 horizontal Niobrara/Codell exploratory tests on two side-by-side common drillpads in the Denver-Julesburg Basin. According to IHS Markit, the Weld County, Colo. ventures will be drilled from pads in Section 29-8n-60w—12 in Niobrara and four in Codell—on the company’s Shoveler-Federal leases. They will extend generally southward to bottom-hole locations in Section 32-8n-60w. Total depths range up to 16,774 ft. True vertical depths of the Niobrara tests is anticipated at 6,312-22 ft — true vertical depths of the Codell tests is expected at 6,507-6,517 ft. The Mallard drillpads are within 1 mile to the northwest of D Sand oil production in Crow Field.
